Hospital Visits
Spending long periods of time in hospital during treatment can be very isolating for young people with cancer or leukaemia. Many of the young people who sail with us said when events or talks were organised in the hospitals they were something to break up the boredom and look forward to. With this in mind, we wanted to visit many of the hospitals we work with to show the possibilities after treatment, and also give those in treatment the chance to interact with people who have been through the same thing and are now doing well, something that often doesn’t happen.
The crews will be made up of young people from the following hospitals and groups that we will visit along the way;
University College London Hospitals
Great Ormond Street Hospital London
The Royal Marsden Sutton
Addenbrookes Hospital Cambridge
Queens Medical Centre Nottingham
CLIC Sargent Scotland
Northern Ireland Cancer Fund for Children, Belfast
Birmingham Children’s Hospital
CLIC Sargent Cardiff
CLIC Sargent Bristol
Southampton General Hospital
We will also be visiting hospitals in Manchester and Sheffield.
