Monster Hunting and The Loch Ness Challenge
Speaking earlier Cath summed up the last two days
“Yesterday saw us into Loch Ness, the first of thee major Lochs that we will be sailing through on our way down the Canal. With very light winds unfortunately not that much sailing was done, but we went for a peaceful drift down the Loch. The Loch Ness Inshore Lifeboat came out to greet us, and were very helpful in being our pilot into Drumnadrochit Harbour, and took soundings for us to make sure we could get in. We went over to Urquhart Castle to see the opening of the Caledonian Canal Ceilidh Trail, and listened to some fantastic young musicians playing traditional music and singing in Gaelic.
Neil from the RNLI very kindly showed us round the RNLI base and the boat, which was very interesting for all the crew. Simon has joined us for the day, sailing towards Fort Augustus. As we now had an official witness, we anchored off the Castle and Karen and Cath completed Loch Ness Challenge by swimming round the boat. They enjoyed the challenge so much that they even jumped back in for a second splash - and the monster didn’t get them…. this time.
With not much wind for sailing, we are slowly drifting down the Loch, with Shadab cooking Haggis and Graham and Fraser trying to speed us up by paddling.”
